The “Sedimentary Vessel Series” is a display of exemplary colour application. Designed and handcrafted by the owner of this studio, Benjamin Kikkert, this work uses layers of different glass colours to portray a variety of different landscapes. Instead of making the actual objects and/or places, his deep knowledge of colour allows him to reference these organic landscapes by using very specific pallets to extend the intent to the observer. This series refers to layers of sedimentary rock you may see in a cross-section of exposed earth; representing eons of history. Featuring rough cut openings and layers of frosted glass mixed with varying translucency and sheen, they are akin to the complexity of the earth.
